Ceiling Fan Installation in Buffalo, NY

A good ceiling fan earns its keep both ways in Buffalo — it moves air through a muggy August, and run in reverse it pushes warm air back down off the ceiling through a long heating season. Trading out a worn fan or putting one where a ceiling light hung before, we anchor it to a fan-rated box so it spins quiet and true rather than shaking itself loose over time.

On a straightforward swap we take care of the balancing, the switch and the wiring, hang and pitch the blades true, and clear away the mess when we're done. In older homes with high ceilings and plaster, we set a properly braced box behind it. Should the work call for a fresh circuit or a box that doesn't exist yet, we'll say so outright and steer you to a licensed electrician instead of taking a guess.

What this covers

  • Fan replacement and upgrade
  • New fan installation where a light exists
  • Fan-rated box installation
  • Wobble diagnosis and balancing
  • Wall switch and remote setup
  • Downrod sizing for high ceilings
  • Reversible winter-mode setup
  • Old fixture removal and haul-away
A note from around here: The tall plaster ceilings in Buffalo's older homes need a properly braced, fan-rated box behind them — a standard light box won't carry a moving fan on lath and plaster. We set the right box and, run in reverse, that fan helps even out the heat all winter instead of just cooling in summer.

Neighbors often ask

Can you put a fan where I only have a light fixture now?

As long as the ceiling box is fan-rated, yes — an ordinary light box can't bear a spinning fan, so we fit a braced fan box first. Where the circuit is already switched, that's typically one trip.

My fan wobbles — is that dangerous?

It's worth fixing. That shake almost always traces back to a loose box, blades out of balance or a downrod that's bent. We track down which and correct it so it isn't slowly working the mount loose overhead — a real concern on an old plaster ceiling.
